Activities This is a 1 night snow camping trip to Meiss Meadow near Kirkwood. Scouts had a great time sledding in this area and working with snow. The troop built a kitchen and learned the basics of snow camping. Reservations We need sno-park passes. There is a pit toilet across the highway at the parking area. The meadow is relatively close to the highway and requires a wilderness permit to camp in this area. It's dispersed camping and the campsite is anywhere from half a mile to 4 miles (if you want to fulfill this aspect of the camping merit badge). Fires are okay to build but difficult because it melts in the snow. This trip took place in February 2016 where there was 6 feet of snow on the ground. Snow shoes are required along with sleds to get supplies to the campsite.
